In an attempt to cut back on expenses I decided to try making my own bird-seed block for my feathered friends. I found a recipe online that sounded like it might survive the torrential downpours of the Pacific Coast, and regardless, hold the seed together. It actually did not take long to make but it was MESSY. As per instructions, I put the block in the fridge to "set-up" overnight. This morning I took it out and tried to push the seed block out of the 2 lb coffee can of which I had opened both ends. I pushed and pushed to no avail. I guess I should have lined the can with wax paper or something like it. In the mean time, I've put the seed outside, in the can, in the hopes that the birds will be able to feed on it at least for a little while. When a dent has been make in it, I will try to cut the rest out and then try again.
OR....maybe I should try to make the block into large rectangles instead. I just thought of that. What a good idea!
The long weekend awaits!
